Large Format Technical Properties & Quality Standards

Ruabon large format quarry tiles are manufactured under a quality management system approved to BS EN ISO 9001:2000.

All products undergo rigorous quality checks at each stage of manufacture and each tile is visually inspected for defects immediately prior to packaging. Furthermore, every batch of tiles is required to pass final inspection which is carried out by trained technicians at our own laboratory.

Technical properties of extruded ceramic tiles

Dennis Ruabon large format quarry tiles are manufactured to achieve technical properties which comply with the highest requirements of BS EN 14411:2003 Annex E Natural Extruded Tiles Group AIIb - 2.

The technical requirements of the current British/European standard are detailed in the table below, together with the typical values obtained for Ruabon 306 x 306 x12.5 Quarry tiles.

It can be seen that Dennis Ruabon quarry tiles meet all the requirements specified in the standard. All Ruabon 1st quality products are required to undergo comprehensive independent audit tests, which are carried out at the laboratories of British Ceramic Research and test reports are available on request.

Frost resistant

300 format tiles are suitable for outdoor use. It is critical that they are laid with adequate falls to prevent the formation of standing water. Tiles should be treated with one or two coats of HG Impregnator prior to grouting.

Slip Resistant

The naturally textured surface provides good slip resistance even in areas that are likely to be occasionally wet. Testing indicates typical values of R11 (European rating).

Durable

Ruabon Quarry tiles are renowned for their exceptional resistance to wear & tear. To ensure full resistance to impact and loading it is essential that tiles are solidly bedded without voids, using a cement based adhesive such as Ardex S21.

Trouble – Free Cleaning & Maintenance

High resistance to staining and chemicals ensures a low maintenance installation. A protective coat of HG Golvpolish is highly recommended to aid routine cleaning, which can be carried out using warm water to which a mild detergent is added.
